Yellowstone

Yellowstone National Park is like stepping foot on another planet. I now know what all the hype is about. We only spent one day in the park and didn’t get to any of the big hikes. All the photos below are from attractions a very short distance from the van. Unfortunately we didn’t have any epic buffalo experiences. We did get to see a herd, but it was from a sizable distance. Such a cool place!

Over the last couple of years we’ve been hearing about a lot of accidents and deaths in Yellowstone. Most of these are preventable by following simple instructions from the park, rangers and common sense. In our short time in the park we witnessed people swimming in unauthorized places, a woman sticking her hand in a small stream to feel how hot it is, numerous people walking off boardwalks, footprints in places where there are clear signs to stay on paths and boardwalks, and empty beverage bottles in beautiful hot springs. I found myself having some unfortunate feelings of sadness, anger and disgust in a place that is so unique and interesting.
