Paradise and Sunrise

Mount Rainier National Park was a highlight of our trip for many reasons. The first being its beauty of course, but we also had visitors! My mom flew out west to spend time with us and to visit my brother in Olympia. She spoiled me with hotel rooms and good food. While her and I drove around in a rental car Phil and his new friend Kane took the van to rock climbing destinations in Washington.  But before all that happened we spent five great days with this incredible glacier capped volcano.

Fog hid the mountain for the majority of our time at Paradise. We had one sunny day which we took advantage of by hiking the skyline trail. Two thirds of the trail was covered in snow which luckily had a good boot pack for us to follow. I was mesmerized by the texture of the glaciers as we hiked. We also spent time at Sunrise on the opposite side of the park hiking to a glacial lake. Long time family friends joined us for our last day in the park, driving all the way up from southern Oregon.
